The first new multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops are available for download today, but as some players discovered this morning, the $15 pack couldn't be downloaded from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
After being inundated with complaints from anxious Black Ops players early this morning, Microsoft's Xbox Support team reported that downloading the map pack from Xbox Live was causing some problems. As it worked to fix the issue, Support directed gamers to the Black Ops in-game store. As of 10 a.m. EST, it appeared the issued had been resolved.
Activision set the trend with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and it continues with Black Ops. The First Strike map pack for Black Ops launches tomorrow on the Xbox 360 for $15, and the release of the paid DLC will be followed by a Black Ops double-XP weekend.
Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb made the double-XP weekend announcement via a podcast on his blog, and Treyarch Community Manager Josh Olin followed up with a confirmation tweet.
